Garvis 3 is back to join Brett and Garvis 2 in their discussion of the 1975 cult classic A Boy And His Dog starring a very young Don Johnson. The film sparks a discussion on how the changes in society and the PC culture have colored our views of older films and whether this makes the films unwatchable today. All of this and our regular discussion of new releases on home video and in theaters.
This week the CTC crew takes a look at Jennifer Kent's modern horror film The Babadook starring Essie Davis and Noah Wiseman. Brett and Garvis 2 also discuss the lack of big new releases for theatrical exhibition this week as well as the titles hitting home video (including the seemingly super fast release of Jamie Foxx's Sleepless). Also what is the scariest horror film you've ever seen?
This week it's a listener request as the CTC crew watch and discuss Better Off Dead from 1985. Can Garvis 2 get over his initial poor reception of the film from 1985? Will the film still hold up for Brett 30 years later? Listen and find out. We also have new release news for home video and in the theaters.
Brett and I wanted to take a moment and offer our condolences to a member of the Cinema Toast Crunch family, Jeff Holbrook, whose father passed away recently. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jeff, his wife Dee, his mother June, and the entire Holbrook family for their loss.
This week the CTC crew takes a look at Flash Of Genius, the story of the man who invented the intermittent windshield wiper. Garvis 2 is still fighting coughing and chest congestion while Brett is riding the wave of a quart of Peeps brand orange cream flavored milk. Garvis 3 is still out with car trouble and this week he was joined in his absence by the Digital Bits website where we get all of our DVD/Blu-ray new release news. Fortunately we know how to make the best of a bad situation and manage to still discuss the major releases as well as the movies that are new to theaters this week.
