This week Garvis and Brett delve into one of the best reviewed films of the first half of 2017, the racially tinged horror film Get Out.  There's also talk about new releases and the films we've watched over the last week as well as the irony of picking a film that deals with race in the week after Charlottesville.

Aug 10, 2017

We're back after a week off with our look at the WWII drama Fury starring Brad Pitt.  Brett talks about the films he's seen since last time, we pay our respects to Glen Campbell an artist who was part of the soundtrack of our childhood, and we cover two weeks worth of new release news while I remain shocked that people are still going to see The Emoji Movie.  It's everything you've come to expect from the fine folks at Cinema Toast Crunch.

Aug 1, 2017

Sorry for the delay with this episode, but technical issues arose while trying to upload it.  This week it's a four person look at Goodnight Mommy as Garvis3 and Kayla step back behind the mic.  Well provided that we can keep Kayla from playing Animal Crossing all night long instead.  In addition we have new release news and a look at some of the movies we've all watched over the past week.

Jul 21, 2017

This week Brett and Garvis take a look into the satire about lobbyists and the tobacco industry with 2005's Thank You For Smoking.  Of course the conversation goes off topic to other things like usual.  All this plus new release news, Brett's take on War for the Planet of the Apes and what we watched last week.

Jul 17, 2017

On July 16, 2017 I lost one of my heroes, horror director and icon George A. Romero.  In this special tribute episode I explain how Romero influenced the way I approached movies and how he touched my life.  Rest easy George.  You will be missed.

Jul 13, 2017

This week Garvis and Brett watch a listener requested film, Man On Fire from director Tony Scott and starring Denzel Washington.  They also cover new releases in home video and at the theater as well as discussing the films they've watched over the past week.  Garvis talks Spider-Man Homecoming and ends up off on a tangent like always.

Jul 7, 2017

This week step back in time to the days when classic sci-fi and horror movies would show up on Chiller, New Years Eve monster marathons, or Saturday afternoons as Brett and Garvis discuss The Incredible Shrinking Man.  There's also the standard new release news and the duo discuss the films they have watched over the previous week.

Jun 29, 2017

Where were you in '62?  Neither of the hosts were around yet, but George Lucas was and he wrote and directed American Graffiti as a way to recapture those days of his youth.  Garvis and Brett reexamine American Graffiti after having not seen it in decades and discuss what they think about it now.  In addition there is a long discussion on comic books and comic book films centering in on the soon to be released Spider-Man: Homecoming.  Throw in a ton of new release news and you've got another jam packed, nearly three hour long show dedicated to movies and the people that make them.

Jun 22, 2017

This week Garvis and Brett watch and discuss John Wick in a super-sized episode.  In addition the guys talk about movies that are coming out on home video and in theaters as well as movies they've watched in the last week.  The episode also features a surprise visit from Garvis3 who joins the guys to talk about The Mummy, Power Rangers, Kong Skull Island, and some other films he has watched since he was last on the show.

Jun 16, 2017

This week Garvis and Brett watch Choke based on the novel by Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk.  It's a dark comedy about a sex addict who runs a scam where he fakes choking on food to earn money to keep his mother in a decent mental hospital.  There's a lot going on in this film.  We also look at the new movies coming to theaters and home video and take a few minutes to pay tribute to Adam West.

Jun 9, 2017

This week Brett and Garvis are joined by Jeff to discuss the screwball comedy My Man Godfrey.  After a discussion of the films they've recently watched, the trio covers new releases as well as Jeff's new You Tube show at JeffHolbrook.me and the reveal of Garvis and Brett's new show coming this summer.

Jun 3, 2017

After a week off due to health problems Garvis and Brett are back to talk about the 8 Track tape collector documentary, So Wrong They're Right.  It's a fascinating look inside the mind of collectors as well as a film that raises questions about the music itself and design aesthetic.  We also cover the new releases from the last couple of weeks.

May 23, 2017

Sorry for the delay this week.  Found out my coughing problem was due to me having pneumonia.  So without further delay here is the CTC crew discussing a delightful little film called Lars and the Real Girl.  It stars Ryan Gosling as a young man who begins a relationship with a sex doll he bought off of the Internet.  The film is not a raunchy comedy however, it is a beautiful film about the need for companionship, humanity, and how some people have to work through grief.

We also have our new release news, which unfortunately is a little dated now, but still fun and informative.

May 12, 2017

This week Garvis 2 and Brett tackle the surreal world of Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain, a film for which neither of them was completely prepared.  In addition there's new release news, Free Comic Book Day talk, and discussion of the works of David Lynch and Takashi Miike.

May 5, 2017

Apr 27, 2017

Garvis 3 is back to join Brett and Garvis 2 in their discussion of the 1975 cult classic A Boy And His Dog starring a very young Don Johnson.  The film sparks a discussion on how the changes in society and the PC culture have colored our views of older films and whether this makes the films unwatchable today.  All of this and our regular discussion of new releases on home video and in theaters.

Apr 21, 2017

This week the CTC crew takes a look at Jennifer Kent's modern horror film The Babadook starring Essie Davis and Noah Wiseman.  Brett and Garvis 2 also discuss the lack of big new releases for theatrical exhibition this week as well as the titles hitting home video (including the seemingly super fast release of Jamie Foxx's Sleepless).  Also what is the scariest horror film you've ever seen?

Apr 13, 2017

This week it's a listener request as the CTC crew watch and discuss Better Off Dead from 1985.  Can Garvis 2 get over his initial poor reception of the film from 1985?  Will the film still hold up for Brett 30 years later?  Listen and find out.  We also have new release news for home video and in the theaters.

Apr 13, 2017

Brett and I wanted to take a moment and offer our condolences to a member of the Cinema Toast Crunch family, Jeff Holbrook, whose father passed away recently.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jeff, his wife Dee, his mother June, and the entire Holbrook family for their loss.

This week the CTC crew takes a look at Flash Of Genius, the story of the man who invented the intermittent windshield wiper.  Garvis 2 is still fighting coughing and chest congestion while Brett is riding the wave of a quart of Peeps brand orange cream flavored milk.  Garvis 3 is still out with car trouble and this week he was joined in his absence by the Digital Bits website where we get all of our DVD/Blu-ray new release news.  Fortunately we know how to make the best of a bad situation and manage to still discuss the major releases as well as the movies that are new to theaters this week.

Mar 17, 2017

It's another listener request on Cinema Toast Crunch this week, and the first episode without Garvis 2.  This time Garvis 3, Brett and Kayla discuss the police drama End of Watch in one of the shortest episodes in recent times, but still manage to squeeze in new release news for theaters and home videos.  Oh and for the record since Garvis 2 wasn't there to straighten his son out, Angus Scrimm, the Tall Man from Phantasm passed away and the new film was Phantasm Ravager which hit Blu-ray last Christmas.
