This week the Cinema Toast Crunch crew discuss The Visitor from 2007.  A very personal film about a college instructor returning to his old apartment in NY only to find that a young couple has taken up residence there in his stead.

Also this week we look at the Oscar nominations and how well our predictions held up.  All this plus new release news for theaters and home video.

After a fill-in film last week, the CTC crew is finally ready to dive into Prometheus.  Well except for Garvis2 who ended up diving into sporadic bouts of sleep throughout the film.  There is also awards talk as the gang discuss the WGA nominations and boldly make their Oscar nomination picks for Best Picture.  Who will have bragging rights this year?

We also have our regular new release news for theatres and home video.

Crazy schedules, missing movies, and other issues result in a little different show this week.  Garvis 3 had to work, so it's just Garvis 2 and Brett tonight.  And since Garvis 3 was supposed to bring the movie, it's time to scramble and find something different.  Which brings us to The Hire, s DVD collection of 8 short films produced by BMW starring Clive Owen and directed by some of the best directors working in film including last year's and the year before's Oscar winning best director, Alejandro Gonzalez-Inarritu.

In addition to the movies we also discuss the new releases in theaters and on DVD and Blu-ray.  We talk about the BAFTAs and the Producer's Guild releasing their nominees and the Hollywood Foreign Press announcing the winners of their Golden Globe awards.

Plus if that wasn't enough, Garvis 2 talks about 2 Lava 2 Lantula which he watched this week on DVD.

It's a full house this week as Jeff returns and brings his lovely wife Dee with him to join Brett and the two Garvii to watch and discuss Alfred Hitchcock's 1959 classic North By Northwest.  With two huge fans of Cary Grant, three people that have never seen the film, and Garvis 3 who had never seen either a Cary Grant film or an Alfred Hitchcock film, the discussion could go on forever (but it actually only lasts a little over 2 hours).

There is a slight echo effect that we could not seem to eliminate that cropped up partway through the episode.  I apologize for that, but hopefully you'll still enjoy our thoughts and comments as well as our regular look at new releases in theaters and on home video.  Also this week the WGA nominees.

Happy New Year!  This week the Cinema Toast Crunch crew takes a look at Fruitvale Station, a film about a very eventful New Year's Eve for one young man in the Bay Area in 2008.  The film was the directorial debut for Ryan Coogler and it was quite an impressive one at that.  In addition we also discuss the film we most enjoyed in 2016 and the film we're most looking forward to in 2017.  All this plus new release news for home video and in theaters.
