Where were you in '62?  Neither of the hosts were around yet, but George Lucas was and he wrote and directed American Graffiti as a way to recapture those days of his youth.  Garvis and Brett reexamine American Graffiti after having not seen it in decades and discuss what they think about it now.  In addition there is a long discussion on comic books and comic book films centering in on the soon to be released Spider-Man: Homecoming.  Throw in a ton of new release news and you've got another jam packed, nearly three hour long show dedicated to movies and the people that make them.

Jun 22, 2017

This week Garvis and Brett watch and discuss John Wick in a super-sized episode.  In addition the guys talk about movies that are coming out on home video and in theaters as well as movies they've watched in the last week.  The episode also features a surprise visit from Garvis3 who joins the guys to talk about The Mummy, Power Rangers, Kong Skull Island, and some other films he has watched since he was last on the show.

Jun 16, 2017

This week Garvis and Brett watch Choke based on the novel by Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk.  It's a dark comedy about a sex addict who runs a scam where he fakes choking on food to earn money to keep his mother in a decent mental hospital.  There's a lot going on in this film.  We also look at the new movies coming to theaters and home video and take a few minutes to pay tribute to Adam West.

Jun 9, 2017

This week Brett and Garvis are joined by Jeff to discuss the screwball comedy My Man Godfrey.  After a discussion of the films they've recently watched, the trio covers new releases as well as Jeff's new You Tube show at JeffHolbrook.me and the reveal of Garvis and Brett's new show coming this summer.

Jun 3, 2017

After a week off due to health problems Garvis and Brett are back to talk about the 8 Track tape collector documentary, So Wrong They're Right.  It's a fascinating look inside the mind of collectors as well as a film that raises questions about the music itself and design aesthetic.  We also cover the new releases from the last couple of weeks.

May 23, 2017

Sorry for the delay this week.  Found out my coughing problem was due to me having pneumonia.  So without further delay here is the CTC crew discussing a delightful little film called Lars and the Real Girl.  It stars Ryan Gosling as a young man who begins a relationship with a sex doll he bought off of the Internet.  The film is not a raunchy comedy however, it is a beautiful film about the need for companionship, humanity, and how some people have to work through grief.

We also have our new release news, which unfortunately is a little dated now, but still fun and informative.

May 12, 2017

This week Garvis 2 and Brett tackle the surreal world of Alejandro Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain, a film for which neither of them was completely prepared.  In addition there's new release news, Free Comic Book Day talk, and discussion of the works of David Lynch and Takashi Miike.

May 5, 2017

This week the Cinema Toast Crunch crew dive into their first documentary with the story of a man and his amazing topiary garden, A Man Named Pearl.  In addition we talk about new releases on home video and in theaters.  Garvis 2 talks a bit about the comic book history of the Guardians of the Galaxy and he and Brett have a lengthy discussion about Saturday Night Fever.

Apr 27, 2017

Garvis 3 is back to join Brett and Garvis 2 in their discussion of the 1975 cult classic A Boy And His Dog starring a very young Don Johnson.  The film sparks a discussion on how the changes in society and the PC culture have colored our views of older films and whether this makes the films unwatchable today.  All of this and our regular discussion of new releases on home video and in theaters.

Apr 21, 2017

This week the CTC crew takes a look at Jennifer Kent's modern horror film The Babadook starring Essie Davis and Noah Wiseman.  Brett and Garvis 2 also discuss the lack of big new releases for theatrical exhibition this week as well as the titles hitting home video (including the seemingly super fast release of Jamie Foxx's Sleepless).  Also what is the scariest horror film you've ever seen?

Apr 13, 2017

This week it's a listener request as the CTC crew watch and discuss Better Off Dead from 1985.  Can Garvis 2 get over his initial poor reception of the film from 1985?  Will the film still hold up for Brett 30 years later?  Listen and find out.  We also have new release news for home video and in the theaters.

Apr 13, 2017

Brett and I wanted to take a moment and offer our condolences to a member of the Cinema Toast Crunch family, Jeff Holbrook, whose father passed away recently.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jeff, his wife Dee, his mother June, and the entire Holbrook family for their loss.

Apr 7, 2017

This week the CTC crew takes a look at Flash Of Genius, the story of the man who invented the intermittent windshield wiper.  Garvis 2 is still fighting coughing and chest congestion while Brett is riding the wave of a quart of Peeps brand orange cream flavored milk.  Garvis 3 is still out with car trouble and this week he was joined in his absence by the Digital Bits website where we get all of our DVD/Blu-ray new release news.  Fortunately we know how to make the best of a bad situation and manage to still discuss the major releases as well as the movies that are new to theaters this week.

Mar 30, 2017

This week Garvis 2 and Brett talk about arguably one of the best zombie films of the last decade, Train To Busan.  It's a Korean zombie film on a fast moving train with fast moving zombies.  In addition we talk about new releases in theaters and on home video.  We also take a few minutes to discuss our favorite home video distributors and the genius of Charlie Chaplin.

Mar 24, 2017

This week Brett and Garvis 2 take a look at the black comedy satire of Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb.  Garvis 2 talks about the films he watched while he was sick and they discuss the new releases coming to home video and hitting theaters this week.

Mar 17, 2017

It's another listener request on Cinema Toast Crunch this week, and the first episode without Garvis 2.  This time Garvis 3, Brett and Kayla discuss the police drama End of Watch in one of the shortest episodes in recent times, but still manage to squeeze in new release news for theaters and home videos.  Oh and for the record since Garvis 2 wasn't there to straighten his son out, Angus Scrimm, the Tall Man from Phantasm passed away and the new film was Phantasm Ravager which hit Blu-ray last Christmas.

Mar 9, 2017

This week Garvis 2 and Brett welcome coaster enthusiast Bob Redman to discuss 1977's Rollercoaster starring George Segal.  There's plenty of roller coaster and amusement park knowledge to be had as Bob is a member of ACE and has ridden over 400 different coasters.

The CTC crew offers our deepest sympathies over the loss this week of Robert Osborne and talk about how he touched our lives and made watching films more enjoyable.

There's also new release news and Garvis 2 discusses watching Two Arabian Knights as he tried to get his breathing back in order.

It's the 89th annual Academy Awards ceremony and Garvis 3 and Kayla weigh in with their predictions (Garvis 2 and Brett announced their picks during Episode 65 Wings).  Then after the ceremony ends the Garvi and Kayla discuss the ceremony and how well their picks panned out (Brett will reveal his thoughts on Episode 66 Kung fu Hustle).

Feb 23, 2017

This week the Cinema Toast Crunch crew wraps up Oscar month with the first film ever to win Best Picture, 1927's Wings.  Can a two hour and twenty four minute long silent film still hold up?  Can our CTC crew hold up and stay awake for the entire running time?  Garvis 2 and Brett are here this week to give you the answers.

In addition to new release news for theaters and home video, we also have some Oscar talk as we head into Sunday's ceremony.  Brett and Garvis2 give you their picks in all 24 categories.  Garvis 3 will have to phone his picks in later as car trouble prevented him from making it this week.  Also if Garvis2 sounds a little odd this week, it's because he had the wrong mic.  This is what happens when the normal tech guy/show runner plays hooky.

Feb 16, 2017

Oscar month rolls on with the Best Picture winner of 1976, Rocky.  There's lots of differing opinions on this film going in to the podcast, but what will the crew think after watching (or re-watching) Rocky?

Also we talk about the BAFTAs and new release news for home video and in theaters.

Feb 9, 2017

Oscar month rolls on with Brett's choice of The Deer Hunter from 1978.  We talk about the film, it's place in Oscar history, and it's place in the war film genre.  It's another interesting and entertaining discussion with two hosts having grown up during the Viet Nam war, and one that only heard about it when he wasn't sleeping through history class.

The Cinema Toast Crunch crew also discusses the winners of the DGA and what this could mean for the Oscars.  New release news covers lots of new DVDs and Blu-rays as well as new theatrical films (Lego Batman anyone?).

Feb 5, 2017

It's week one of our Oscar Month celebration as we watch and discuss Grand Hotel, the Best Picture winner from 1932.  This was the first all star, multi-story film to fill the silver screen and Hollywood responded by bestowing it with the Best Picture trophy.  But how well does it hold up?  Was it truly the "Best Picture" of 1932?  The Cinema Toast Crunch crew discusses all of these questions and more.

Also in the Oscar realm, Garvis 2 and Brett each watched an Oscar nominated film last week.  Brett discusses La La Land nominated for 14 Oscars at this month's ceremony.  Garvis talks about The Racket from 1928 which competed for Best Picture against Wings at the very first Oscars.

Plus the results of the SAGs throws the Oscar race a few curve balls which we discuss in our awards talk.  All this and new release news in an extra long episode packed with the patented Cinema Toast Crunch mix of fun and information.
